Born in 1898, Enzo Ferrari is a giant in the annals of automotive history. He began driving at age 13, became an instructer in the Modena Fire Brigade workshop, then went on to fulfill his dreams as a race car and test car driver. In 1920, he began working for Alfa Romeo and, in 1929, he founded Ferrari in Modena, Italy, as a racing club. This division of Alfa Romeo gained its independence in 1940. And now, to commemorate the company that built some of the greatest and most stylish cars of all time. Ferrari has authorized Matchbox Collectibles to create a die-cast tractor trailer decorated with the famed Ferrari emblem, which first appeared on the fuselage of the fighter plane flown by Francesco Baracca, the heroic Italian World War I pilot. The pilot's parents suggested Enzo Ferrari adopt the prancing horse as the Ferrari emblem to bring him good luck. Enzo added the canary yellow background, saying it is the colour of Modena.
